Germany photo diary III

After staying in Kassel for the beautiful art exhibition Documenta, Frankfurt was our last stop before heading home. We went shopping, strolled around and ate sushi.

Germany photo diary II

(if you haven't read my previous Germany photo diary post, scroll down a bit!)

The fun part about Documenta is that the exhibition takes place on different locations. Just like the Orangerie (the building in the back), with the beautiful garden in front of it.

This house is called "the Huguenot House".
It stood empty since the 1970s. Artist Theaster Gates wanted to inject life into the abandoned house: his plan was to make the forgotten house useful again. A team of artists are restoring and reactivating the place. If you want to know more about this amazing project, you should definitely google and/or follow their daily report on their tumblr.

I always like the atmosphere of abandoned buildings, so discovering this house was like a little paradise to me.

Another beautiful place was an old factory hall near the railway station. I realized how much I would love to live in such open space. (a loft in a big city = big dream)

Germany photo diary I

Last week I made my suitcase for a (short) trip to neighbouring country, Germany.
The main goal of this trip was visiting Kassel for dOCUMENTA. It is one of the most important art exhibitions of modern art in the world and it takes place every five years. And boy, the 5 hour ride is so worth it! The return? A tired body, but a peaceful mind full of inspiration and satisfaction. The entire city participates in the exhibition so it really is a true pleasure walking around and exploring new places. I love the atmosphere, the people (we all have love for art in common) and the art itself of course.

Before going to Kassel we stayed two nights in Waldeck. This small town lies on a beautiful lake. Although the landscapes were very pretty, I didn't like the town. There were no youngsters, only backpacked tourists with ugly hiking shoes, the architecture wasn't my cup of tea and the weather wasn't great. On moments like these I also realize how much I love (and need) the city for feeling alive and well. I could still enjoy my time there though by taking a walk to the lake, photographing, reading and watching German television (you Germans are lucky to have so many movies and soaps on television, unfortunately every American soap was dubbed so I had a hard time understanding what they were actually saying)

Dance with me

sweater COS - pants ZARA - shoes CONVERSE

This outfit is so comfortable and totally "me"
that I could wear it for the rest of my life.
Okay, I would get bored eventually. But still.
I am wearing a new sweater I bought during the sales by the way.
Oh and before I forget to ask you:
do you know any shops where lipsticks are in sale now?
Really want to expand my lipstick collection.
I want lipsticks in every color of the rainbow.
That would be pretty cool yes.
Oh and do you know what I also want?
Okay totally random, but I wish I could longboard (1) in NYC (2)
just like these cool girls. Epic.

in a manner of speaking

This skirt is the perfect basic I absolutely needed in my closet.
I found it at the new Brandy Melville store in Brussels.

I am planning on doing a lot of video outfit posts during the summer holidays.
I have so much free time now, and the thing I like the most,
whatever I am doing, it never feels like it is a waste of time.

See ya!
