Germany photo diary I

Last week I made my suitcase for a (short) trip to neighbouring country, Germany.
The main goal of this trip was visiting Kassel for dOCUMENTA. It is one of the most important art exhibitions of modern art in the world and it takes place every five years. And boy, the 5 hour ride is so worth it! The return? A tired body, but a peaceful mind full of inspiration and satisfaction. The entire city participates in the exhibition so it really is a true pleasure walking around and exploring new places. I love the atmosphere, the people (we all have love for art in common) and the art itself of course.

Before going to Kassel we stayed two nights in Waldeck. This small town lies on a beautiful lake. Although the landscapes were very pretty, I didn't like the town. There were no youngsters, only backpacked tourists with ugly hiking shoes, the architecture wasn't my cup of tea and the weather wasn't great. On moments like these I also realize how much I love (and need) the city for feeling alive and well. I could still enjoy my time there though by taking a walk to the lake, photographing, reading and watching German television (you Germans are lucky to have so many movies and soaps on television, unfortunately every American soap was dubbed so I had a hard time understanding what they were actually saying)
